Background
The International Institute of Finance is the premier association for the worlds' largest financial institutions. They were created in 1983 as a result of the international debt crisis. Their mission is to analyze risks, serve as a forum and promote collaboration among members and other banking institutions.
IIF wanted a website that would provide web users timely news, reports, technical data, and the products of special working groups and task forces. Certain items would be available to all web users, other items would be available only to IIF members, and still others would require the web user to purchase the information online.
The Customer's Needs
IIF had very different needs than a typical online retailer due to the nature of their membership program and the types of material available for purchase. Different members of IIF would have access to different materials based upon membership level and other access requirements, each page of the site was dynamically produced according to an individual account's permissions, and even pricing for report products was based on membership level. Credit card orders needed to be processed securely and strict reporting of all information exchanged was a requirement due to the nature of the information exchanged.
QuaTeams Solution
QuaTeams assembled a development team for the IIF. Using our proprietary Quagga component system, QuaTeams created an online exchange that understood membership access. The Quagga component system is based upon Java components and XML, which allowed QuaTeams developers to reuse existing web components and create their site rapidly. Additionally the IIF solution utilized Quagga's ability to utilize multiple stylesheets for a single web application in order to correctly display multiple languages, multiple device types, or different browsers platforms depending on the needs of the web user. IIFs' security requirement also shaped the design of a new proprietary Quagga shopping cart that utilized public key encryption.
The extensive administrative tools provided content management tools that allowed posting of news articles, fulfillment functionality that enabled order processing, and reporting tools that provided log reports and customer purchase history.
Conclusion
The QuaTeams/IIF solution provides critical news and information to the top financial institutions in the world 24 hours a day. The system has been in use and functions flawlessly. Even now, no commercial solution exists out of the box to provide the functionality the IIF and their members demand. Since the launch, the IIF relationship has flourished. QuaTeams will be providing 24x7 monitoring support, and will be developing a new Customer Relationship Management system and intranet for them.
